Results in detail
Our national average vote in the single vacancy wards we contested was 10.26%, up from 9.14% in 2003. In multiple vacancy wards our average vote was 15.26%, up from 13.13% in 2003. At the same time we have increased the number of wards contested, so that average vote share has held up despite us going into new, and possible poorer, territory. The change in vote share across individual councils with a lot of Green candidates, such as Brighton and Norwich, tend to show a similar pattern. As can be seen in the graph above, there was some regional variation in our vote share.

Town and Parish elections
We also had 233 people standing for parish and town councils. 32 were re-elected unopposed and 25 re-elected by vote. 38 new councillors were elected unopposed and 48 newly elected by vote. We now have 143 town and parish councillors. Those elected had an average 31.33% of the vote.
